The Browns’ 2025 NFL season was their 77th in franchise history and sixth under general manager Andrew Berry. Head coach Kevin Stefanski entered the season looking to reverse the team’s recent struggles, following a 3-14 finish in 2024. Despite some bright spots, especially on defense, the Browns finished 5–12, placed 4th in the AFC North, and missed the playoffs for the second straight year.
After a few years of modest success, the expectation for the Browns has come back down to earth and they are back to their old ways. I know Deshaun Watson got injured but the fact that you’re paying a guy 60 million dollars per year and he can’t stay on the field is ridiculous.
2025 Draft
The Browns actually had a really good draft this past offseason. They beefed up their front seven with Mason Graham and Carson Schwesinger who won defensive rookie of the year. They got their running back for the future by picking Quinshon Judkins but the controversy came when it came to the QB position. Are we surprised it’s the Browns.
Quarterback Controversy
It is well known that the owner Jimmy Haslam forced the Shedeur Sanders pick on Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry. That is why Stefanski made sure the Browns got Dillion Gabriel in the 3rd round but he really was a six round talent in the ABL Sports pre draft player grades. The Browns also signed Joe Flacco and traded for Kenny Pickett so they had a 4 player QB battle. As we know Flacco won, but then was playing good so the Browns thought it would be a good idea to trade him. They started Gabriel after that and it ended up being a disaster and then the elephant in the room with that shiny Rolex came in and actually played decent for the Browns. He went 3-4 as a starting QB and gave the Browns some life.
Coaching Carousel
Every NFL fan knows the Browns have an ownership problem with how bad and incompetent Jimmy Haslam is. However he decided to put the blame on Kevin Stefanski and gave him the boot out of town. Many NFL people were shocked by the news but Browns fans were indifferent. Some wanted to see a change but some still had faith. Ultimately the past 2 seasons were failures and the same old ways were not working. However the fact that the Browns did listen to their star players Myles Garrett and hire Jim Shwartz as the head coach was ridiculous.
What Now
The Browns are back to being a disaster. I know Myles Garrett is the heart of that city but if he wants a trade then he should be granted that. The Browns have a good young core but guys like Denzel Ward, Myles Garrett, and Jerry Jeudy might want a change of scenery so they have a chance at winning a Super Bowl. Unfortanutely my best advice for Browns fans is to wait 2 years for Todd Monken to get fired and start over then.
