The 2026 NFL season culminates this Sunday with Super Bowl LX, featuring a classic yet improbable matchup as the New England Patriots square off against the Seattle Seahawks in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
A Tale of Two Comebacks
Both franchises have defied preseason expectations to reach the sport’s biggest stage. After finishing last with just four wins a year ago, the Patriots surged to a 14–3 record under head coach Mike Vrabel — fueled by a revamped free-agency strategy and balanced offense. Now, they aim to become the first franchise in NFL history to win seven Super Bowls.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks — led by quarterback Sam Darnold — enjoyed a franchise-best season and enter the game on a nine-game winning streak after dominating the NFC playoffs.
This meeting marks a rare Super Bowl rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, the 2015 showdown remembered for its dramatic finish — and one that many fans still debate today.
How the Seahawks win
I’m not going to beat around the bush, the Seahawks have the better roster and have been the better team throughout the season despite have the same record as the Patriots. Sam Darnold is not going to need to play as good as he has been playing since the start of December. The Patriots offense has been average at best this postseason and the Seahawks have been unstoppable. If Sam Darnold has a stat line of 200 yards and a touchdown with no turnover the Seahawks probably win. In addition the Seahawks have not trailed in the second half of game since week 16 against the Rams. The Seahawks don’t need to do anything special. They have proven that they can win both a shootout and a low scoring game in their last 3 playoff type games.
How the Patriots win
The Patriots feel like the biggest underdog in the Super Bowl since the Eagles in Super Bowl 52. If they want to win they need to force Sam Darnold into making mistakes. If Sam Darnold throws no picks the Patriots have no chance. In addition they cannot let the Seahawks get off to a fast start. The Seahawks vs 49ers game was over after the kick return and the Rams could never officially catch up to the Seahawks in the NFC championship game. I’ve accepted the fact that the Patriots will not be winning via shootout. I also have acknowledged the Patriots will not be putting up 10-14 points in the first quarter like the Seahawks normally do. However If they can hold the Seahawks to no touchdowns in the first quarter this game could get a bit tense for the Seahawks. The Patriots original dynasty started out with them being 14.5 point under dogs in the Super Bowl and head coach Mike Vrabel was apart of that team.
Common Opponents
Before I make my pick I was to show how these teams matchup up based on notable common opponents this season:
Steelers: Seahawks won 31-17 in week 2, Patriots lost 21-14 in week 3
Panthers: Seahawks won 27-10 in week 17, Patriots won 42-13 in week 4
Texans: Seahawks won 27-19 in week 7, Patriots won 28-16 in the Divisional round
Bucs: Seahawks lost 38-35 in week 5, Patriots won 28-23 in week 10
Prediction
ABL sports believes the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl 28-23. This Seahawks roster is just too good and despite Drake Maye being a top 10 QB and Josh McDaniels being one of the best offensive coordinators in the league, we think the Seahawks front seven will overwhelm the Patriots offensive line.
