- Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss HC)
Currently head coach at Ole Miss Rebels, with a strong record 51-19 in Oxford and having brought the program into contention for the College Football playoff. Lets start out by saying I do not think Lane Kiffin will take the LSU job. He is the hottest commodity in the country right now for college football head coaching jobs so Lane can be as selective as he wants to be. Lane Kiffin is very happy in Oxford and the only job opening he would consider leaving for right now is Florida
- Joe Brady (Bills OC)
Brady is known in Baton Rouge for the 2019 season as LSU’s passing game coordinator which he transformed the Tigers’ offense modernizing it into an NFL-style spread system that unleashed Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson. That year’s record-breaking unit (48.4 points per game, 568 yards per game) is widely regarded as one of the greatest in college football history. The only problem with Joe Brady is LSU you will be competing with NFL jobs in addition will they be able to get him in the building in time for the January transfer portal and recruiting cycle this is the higher that LSU fans with throw parades over
- Kenny Dillingham (Arizona State HC)
Someone who transformed a program that was thought to be dead in the water made it into a Big 12 powerhouse. The biggest issue with this is Dillingham is at his alma mater and it would be hard to imagine him leaving Arizona State as he said he wants to be there for decades but LSU is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we have seen coaches leave their alma matters for before for bigger jobs such as Jonathan Smith leaving Oregon State for Michigan State. This would be a home run hire for LSU as Dillingham is a fantastic recruiter, runs an amazing offense, and is able to compete with the big dogs in the country as they took Texas to overtime in the College Football Playoff last year. The only issue with this is whether he wants to leave Arizona state or not.
- Jon Summrall (Tulane HC)
Currently head coach at Tulane Green Wave (in Louisiana), very good record (38-10 through his first few seasons) as a Group of Five head coach. This would be the hire lied about but as of right now with how messy the LSU administration is this is probably the most likely hire. He Has strong recruiting ties in the region (Louisiana, Gulf Coast) and local familiarity. Being in Louisiana helps with in-state recruiting and has familiarity with the culture and environment. Seen as a rising coach who could be a long-term solution rather than a “splash hire”.
- Kelvin Sheppard (Detroit Lion DC)
Sheppard is LSU through and through — a Louisiana native who starred at linebacker under Les Miles and went on to a long NFL career. His passion for the program and understanding of what LSU means to the state would resonate powerfully with players, alumni, and fans. In Detroit, Sheppard has earned major respect for his ability to develop and motivate players. The Lions’ defense has become one of the toughest, most disciplined units in the NFL under Dan Campbell, and Sheppard’s leadership has been a key part of that. He’s known for his energy, relatability, and accountability. Few candidates could recruit Louisiana better. Sheppard’s NFL background, LSU roots, and charisma would make him an instant hit in living rooms across the South. Parents and players trust coaches who “walked the walk,” and Sheppard has that credibility in spades. Coming from the Dan Campbell coaching tree, Sheppard would bring toughness, culture-building, and an emphasis on grit — something LSU’s locker room culture arguably needs to recapture. He’d also connect naturally with today’s players in the NIL and transfer portal era. The only concern about this potential hire would be the lack of head coaching experience because he has none but if you put a good staff around him this could be a home run hire
